Subtraction is the second basics of mathematics. Subtraction is: A collection, take away (subtract) by a certain number of objects.

It's sign is Minus.

For example:

Five minus two equal to three
5 - 2 = 3

This can be shown in the picture on left:
There are 5 apples
Two apples are taken (marked with 'X')
So, we now have 3 apples
